Well, I was looking up the information on different countries for my book, when it hit me. My countries are silly and blocky. If the amount of land I present has the geographical features I have given it, then the countries I have produced would not have been likely to form the way I have them.
There are only ten countries on the larger of the two continents. The smaller continent is fine, so it will not be discussed. The scale is not the same as our world, so I could get away with this. On the other hand, the cultures that make up my world are very diverse. I currently have nine separate cultures that are bordering, but don’t influence each other at all.
I may have to add new countries in the areas where two seperate countries touch. Which means I have to change all my current maps. I’m annoying myself…
Untill next time, I am: Rewriting History
Well, my first week of blogging is almost over. My book has gained a new chapter, although now I need to do some research. I need to learn more about the Aztec, Mayan, and Incan cultures. A little information on the Mongolian horse tribes would be of assistance as well.
I also need to make myself a nice map of the ancient city mentioned in my last post. I keep trying to make all four directions be West, which is not right. At least, not for this story. What would it be like to live in a world where all directions were west? At the north pole, all directions are south. Maybe the planet could have its axis where the Earth’s equator is?
Enough about that. I need to look up the aforementioned civilizations. Maybe some medieval French too…
Until next time, I am: Busy with History
In my last post, I discussed certain books I like. Now, I will discuss a different book. I am trying to write a book. I’m on Chapter 3 so far. There are 30 full computer-pages, which is impressive considering I have written the entire book in Memopad on my phone. The book is fantasy. The writing style is my usual, which is to say: pompous and a little long-winded. However, I like the story so I’m going to keep writing.
The story has an unusual history. The entire book is based on a drawing I made in seventh grade. I liked the items in the picture, so I constructed a small back-story around them. That back story kept expanding until the drawing merely became a part of the story. When I last left them, the two main characters were inside a memory of the past, exploring an ancient city. In the book’s present, the city is in ruins. I would be more specific, but the Internet can be a dangerous place where ideas are frequently stolen.
On the bright side, I saw a chip in the paint on a wall that gave me an idea for the shape of a country. I have now cereated an entire map based off of that paint chip. Yes, I have too much time on my hands. No, it doesn’t bother me.
Untill next time, I am: an aspiring writer.
In my last post, I discussed the various ideas I had for topics to blog about. I have too many ideas. I will do each post on a different topic/theme. This post will be about favorite books/movies of mine. I am a huge Lord of the Rings fan, both book and movies. I really enjoyed The Silmarillion, and The Hobbit was really good too. I am extremely exited about the new movie. I like the invisible writing on the map.
I recently found a book at my old house titled Unfinished Tales. It has many short, unfinished essays on various events and people from the history of Middle-earth. I particularly enjoyed the section on the Istari (wizards). The Istari are Maiar who are willfully bound in human form. While the number in Valinor is unknown, there were five that came to Middle-earth: Gandalf the Gray, Saruman the White, Radagast the Brown, and two wizard who wore blue.
Untill next time, I am: A huge fan of Tolkein
I tried to make a secret section you could only read by highlighting, but as you can see, that didn’t work out too well. Anyway, this is my tribute to The Hobbit.
First blog post of the year. What to write about? I could write about my project, but then, it is supposed to be a secret. Well, this is my first post on WordPress. I used Blogger last year, but I like WordPress better. I can write about pretty much anything. Hmm. I picked my blogs name (mypersonallabyrith) randomly. Although, it’s not really that random. I really like mazes. I drew a cool one the other day. No one else has been able to solve it.
So, what should I write about the rest of the year? I could come up with a couple different ideas. I like to read, so books are always an option. The five books I’m reading at the moment are all pretty good. I could write about various events of my day. This will probably happen, although I’ll only put the interesting scenes down. I could drop hints about my project once in a while. Maybe I could do a word of the day. That’s a little clichéd though. My thoughts generally jump from one thing to the next, so this random post is pretty normal for me.
Where will I take this blog? I’ll have to think about it. Until next time, I am: A Random Blogger.
